saddles & tea

the husband went off for a trip with his buddies this weekend, and i stayed behind with the kid. having an active toddler, i always think it’s easier to bring him out and tire him out during the day. we went to the library on saturday and i had breakfast and lunch with the kid..and on sunday i thought i wanted to bring him to some other place to discover.

occasionally, we like to go some place with some greenery (botanic gardens, pasir ris park etc) and with a less harried feel to it..it’s pretty scarce here isnt it?

i also felt like going for a lazy afternoon tea, some place with the same characteristics stated earlier..

found a place where it combined both!

and we brought company along for a lazy sunday outing :)

when we arrived for tea, it was pretty empty (yes!), although i heard they are packed on weekends for brunch.

we were there for tea, snacks and cakes!

but i am also partial to anything that i can have with jam and butter..in this case, they didnt give us butter, but clotted cream for the scones.

their dessert were yummy! had strawberry cheesecake with crumbles and deathbychocolate cake.

deathbychocolate, didnt leave this chocoholic dissapointed. divine =)

the novelty of this place actually is, it’s located in a saddle club..somewhere near the old turf club, tuck in a lil corner of this island..

fortunately, or unfortunately we sat at the balcony facing the stables. the horses that trotted in and out of the stables were a nice distraction for the kids! we saw white horses, spotted black and white horses, brown horses and a beautiful black stallion passing by as we had our tea.

the bad thing was..depending on the direction of the wind, you sometimes get a wiff of the horses’ poo. when we arrived the horsies were out, but as the dark clouds passed, the horsies came back..and we got the smell..luckily it was an on and off thing. a good idea may be to sit at the other side of the restaurant, not facing the stables, as you may still see riders with their horses going the rounds.

the place is spacious for the kids and since it was pretty empty while we were there, they comfortably hung out at the sofa for some time watching cartoons and playing games.

after tea, we brought the kids around. there was also a small (but old and a bit run down) playground just beside the cafe.

but i think the kids didnt mind its condition. after a few rounds here, they didnt want to go back..nor were they as excited in the horses as they were to continue playing at the playground.

but we will probably be back. nice place, perfect for a “just get away from it all” mood.
